Amano Shrimp -Caridina Multidentata (Japonica)

Caridina Japonica is proven the ultimate worker in removing algae from a newly established aquarium, as well as to maintain it further on.

Their efficiency surpasses all other soft algae eating creatures even the awesome Nerite Snails, making them indispensable to every eastern Asian tank.

Since the late Takashi Amano introduced them to the aquarium scaping finding them in Ogasawara islands they are best known with either the name Amano Shrimp or Caridina Japonica because of their Japanese origins. However the species is also met in Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands (between the Philippine and East China seas), Fiji and elsewhere.
